The following page contains a justification for every item on my Amazon Wish List. These items are desired for the growth of my YouTube channel, to turn it into something I will love doing every day and something I know you would love too.
I have so many interests and every week I am tackling on something new. For example, one week I might be fully dedicated to gardening, the next week in game development, the week after that animating, the week after that video gaming, etc. My channel has diverse content, but I always try my best to put thought and effort into it, but I can only do so much since I’m on a budget. These items will take that “but” away.
The motherboard I am currently using (AsRock B250M Pro 4) is extremely outdated and can no longer ensure that I get the best software, hardware and gaming performance. This motherboard is capable of using the hardware on the market. It has a 128 GB memory limit (max capacity), which I know I would need down the line for a big projects.
Speaking of memory, let me introduce you to 64GB of it. I would’ve loved to go with 4x32GB = 128GB of the bat, but not only is that needed right now, it’s also very expensive. This will do for now which will be optimal for video gaming and the use in software such as Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Unity, Python, Blender, etc.
Space, the world is running out of space. So am I! For all the projects I will be tackling on, I need more than enough space. The faster the storage drive is, the better the performance. Simulations will load quick, games will load in faster, etc. It’s quite simple.
Some people say a +1000W PSU is overkill and perhaps it is, but the amount of work this PC will be put through, 1200W will definitely be needed. Every last drop will be squeezed out of the CPU, GPU, memory and storage for the various simulations I will be running, models I would be building, codes I would be executing and games I would be playing. Plus, down the line new parts will become available and these parts will require more power. This PSU is therefore a great investment.
What’s the point of all the high-end hardware if I play it on my 720p 60Hz monitor? Since I’ve always played on some lower-end screens, I am not looking for a 8k gaming experience or 240Hz refresh rate. 144Hz at 1080p would be just fine and get the job done.
Unfortunately the natural lighting inside my house is pretty poor (especially at night as you can imagine). These lights will liven up my videos and make my room not look like a dungeon. It’s also needed for the green screen, otherwise I cannot use it to the best of my abaility.
All the new PC hardware also requires a casing to house it all. I went with something cheap, yet gets the job done. My current case is way too small and I even had to start cutting some of the metal sheet away just to fit more into it. The case has become unstable and wobbly. Definitely a no go.
Two items not on the list is the CPU and GPU. The CPU I am going after is the new Ryzen 9 5950X 3.4 GHz 16-Core Processor. The Threadripper would’ve been great, but unfortunately it’s way too expensive. This CPU is not available on Amazon yet for shipping to South Africa. The GPU I am after is a NVIDIA RTX 3090. While the AMD Radeon RX 6950XT is less expensive, AMD Radeon GPUs just are not ideal for machine learning and coding speed-ups yet. In fact, I don’t think there is a GPU speed-up available on Python with a Radeon GPU unless you specifically code it in into your projects. Since the GPU will not just be used for gaming, but in Unity, Blender, Premiere Pro, etc. I need a very versatile GPU. This GPU, however, is not available for shipping in South Africa yet via Amazon, so it did it not make it onto my Wish List.
Well, that’s it. That’s my complete Wish List. Thanks for reading through it all. If you have any questions or suggestions, e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Cheers 🙂
Although webcams and video cameras add depth and intimacy to my videos, since all my backgrounds at home (where I record like all my videos) are atrocious, the green screen would allow my videos to look more professional, but again the existence of the green screen would allow more creative projects from being undertaken.
I did not purchase this exact item, but I replaced it with a standard webcam. I realized that with a decent webcam, an OTG cable and my phone, I can use the webcam as a video camera.
Since I have a webcam and green screen now, I decided to get my own lighting. I opted for something else than what is pictured here (to the right).
